The flowers emit a sweet, uplifting fragrance, enhancing the sensory experience of your garden walks.

🌞 Growing & Care Tips:

Follow these simple care tips to help your Starburst Bush grow healthy, bloom beautifully, and stay vibrant all year round.

☀️Sunlight

The Starburst Bush needs plenty of sunlight to grow well. Give it at least 5 to 6 hours of sunlight every day. This helps the plant bloom with more flowers and keeps the leaves healthy. In shady places, the plant grows with fewer flowers and develops longer, thinner branches. A sunny balcony, terrace, backyards, patios or open verandah is a good place for this plant.

🌿Soil

The Starburst Bush grows best in well-drained soil that also keeps some moisture. Heavy or sticky soil is not good because it holds too much water and causes root rot. A good soil mix is made by adding garden soil, compost, and sand or perlite to help water drain properly. Slightly acidic to neutral soil supports healthy growth. Adding cow dung manure or vermicompost gives extra nutrients and keeps the plant strong. A ready-made organic potting soil mix for flowering plants is also a simple and good option.

💧Watering:

Water the Starburst Bush when the top layer of soil feels dry. Avoid overwatering, as this harms the roots. Do not allow the soil to stay dry for too long. In summer, water more often, especially when the weather is very hot. During the rainy season, reduce watering because the soil stays moist naturally. Adding mulch like dry leaves or coconut husk around the plant helps keep the soil moist for longer and reduces the need for frequent watering.

🌡️Temperature

The Starburst Bush grows well between 15°C to 32°C. It can tolerate higher temperatures up to 40°C when given enough water and shade during the hottest time of the day. In winter, the plant survives, but long periods of extreme cold can cause damage. In North India, very cold winters require keeping the plant in a sunny and sheltered place to protect it from cold winds. The plant stays healthy when the temperature remains steady without sudden changes.

✂️Pruning

Pruning means cutting back some branches to help the plant grow better. Prune the Starburst Bush in late winter or early spring, before new leaves and flowers appear. Removing dry or damaged branches keeps the plant healthy and improves air circulation. This plant also sends out new shoots from the roots, called suckers, which need to be cut if spreading is not wanted. Trimming the plant after each flowering season keeps it in shape and encourages more blooms.

🌱Fertiliser:

To keep the Starburst Bush healthy and full of flowers, feed the plant with organic fertilisers during the growing season, from spring to early autumn. Use vermicompost, neem cake, or fish amino acids every 4 to 6 weeks for steady growth. For better flowering and stronger roots, add bone meal or Epsom salt occasionally. In winter, when growth slows down, reduce feeding to once every two months. Always water the plant after adding fertiliser to help the nutrients reach the roots.

🛡️ Common Problems & Easy Solutions:

Root Rot:

Caused by overwatering. Always use well-draining soil and ensure pots have drainage holes.

Leaf Scorch:

Protect from harsh afternoon sun using shade nets or by placing it in partial shade.

Root Suckers:

Regularly remove suckers to maintain plant shape and prevent overcrowding.

Yellowing Leaves:

Adjust watering schedules; avoid overwatering or underwatering.

Poor Flowering:

Ensure it receives adequate sunlight. Lack of light reduces blooming.

🐞 Pest Control

Common pests like aphids, spider mites, and mealybugs can attack the Starburst Bush, but they are easy to manage. Spray neem oil or use Beauveria bassiana to control these pests and keep the plant healthy.

🪴 Pot or Ground – Where to Plant?

In Pots:

Start with a 12-inch pot for young plants. Shift to larger 18-25 inch pots as it matures. Ensure drainage holes to avoid waterlogging.

In Ground:

Plant in open spaces for larger growth (up to 9-10 feet). In pots, it generally grows up to 6-7 feet.
