✨ Plant Care Guide

☀️ Sunlight

The Pink Butterfly Pea Vine Multi Petal plant loves sunlight! For best flowering, give it 5–6 hours of direct sunlight daily. It can tolerate partial shade, but flowering will reduce significantly. Sunlight not only boosts flower production but also keeps the plant healthy and vibrant. If your plant is not blooming much, try shifting it to a sunnier spot.

🌡️ Temperature

Clitoria ternatea thrives in warm, tropical climates, with an ideal temperature range of 15°C to 35°C, making it well-suited for most Indian states. In colder regions like northern hill stations, grow the plant as an annual or place it in a movable pot to shift indoors during winter. Warm, humid weather supports healthy, year-round growth.

🌱 Soil

Pink Butterfly pea grows well in various soil types — sandy, loamy, or clay. However, it performs best in well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Ideal pH is between 6.5 and 8.0. Use compost, cow dung, or garden soil to help the plant grow well. Add some sand to keep the soil loose and airy. Avoid soggy or waterlogged soil as it can cause root rot. It can even grow in slightly alkaline soils, making it suitable for most Indian garden conditions.

💧 Watering

Water the Pink Butterfly Pea plant when the top inch of soil feels dry. It prefers moist but not wet soil. Overwatering is a common mistake that leads to root rot. During peak summer, water more often, especially if grown in pots. In the monsoon or winter months, reduce watering as the plant's growth slows. For healthy leaves and blooms, maintain a consistent but moderate watering schedule. Avoid misting the leaves to prevent fungal issues.

🍀 Fertiliser

Feed your plant once a month using organic fertilisers like vermicompost, cow dung, goat dung, and fish amino acid. To promote abundant flowering, add bone meal or banana peel compost. Avoid overfeeding with chemical fertilisers, as they harm roots and reduce soil quality. Organic options support long-term soil health and produce better blooms. Apply fertiliser only during the active growing season — spring to early winter.

✂️ Pruning

Trim dead or weak stems regularly to promote bushy growth and more blooms. Light pruning can be done year-round; hard pruning is best in late winter. Cut back leggy vines by one-third after flowering to encourage side shoots. Always use clean tools and fertilise lightly after pruning.

🪴 Pot or Ground

Grow this vine either in a pot, grow bag, or directly in the ground. Start with a 12-inch pot for young plants and shift to an 18–inch pot as it matures. Make sure pots have drainage holes to prevent waterlogging. When planted in the ground, it can reach up to 10-15 feet tall, covering fences or walls with lush greenery and pink blooms. In containers, expect a height of 6–7 feet with regular care and pruning.

🧵 Support & Training

The Pink Butterfly Pea Vine Multi Petal grows best with support like trellises, fences, balcony grills, arches, or creeper nets. Gently guide or tie the vines to help them climb. Proper support boosts flowering and keeps the plant neat and healthy.

🦠 Pests & Diseases

The Pink Butterfly Pea Vine Multi Petal plant is mostly pest-resistant but can occasionally face issues with mealybugs, aphids, or spider mites. Infested plants may show curled leaves or sticky residue. For organic control, spray neem oil or use Metarhizium Anisopliae, a natural bio-insecticide. Also ensure good air circulation around the plant. Avoid overwatering, which can attract fungal issues like powdery mildew or soft rot.

🛡️ Common Issues & Solutions

Yellow Leaves / Wilting:

Likely overwatering or poor drainage. Allow the topsoil to dry between waterings to prevent root rot and support healthy growth.

Fewer Blooms:

Needs more sunlight. Move to a brighter spot.
